P6ScottSilvaPageP6ScottSilvaCard

Description: Stationery designs I created for my fictional company. This includes stationery paper and business cards.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): Began in Illustrator where I created the design, theme, and style. I wanted a simple design because I think those look the best. Thus I created the company’s name off of that ideal. I then transferred the elements to InDesign.

Message: Simplicity is a company that creates your content and delivers your message in the most simple, straightforward and cleanest way possible. Everything is streamlined.

Audience: 35-40 year old business owners.

Top Thing Learned: How to transfer elements over.

Color scheme and color names: Monochromatic

Project 5: Logos

ScottSilva-P5Logo

Description: Logo renditions I designed for my own company.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): Created entirely inside Adobe Illustrator. I went for clean and simple, yet wanted something bold and sturdy. I used circle tools and rounded rectangles to create the cloud image. The cloud is a total of 5 shapes put together. Originally I had the text underneath the cloud icon, and the word “clowd” was outlined in blue stroke using white fill to make it stand out. A problem was apparent however as I shrunk the logo. “Clowd” became harder to read because it was made out of such a bold typeface with only the outline to bring it out. It looked cluttered. I solved the problem by putting the cloud image over the “clowd” word, which not only solved the problem of making the 2 words distinguished, but also added emphasis to the cloud aspect. I like the concept of the cloud being blue like the name implies but the word “clowd” being white, like a cloud should. The logo is now legible when shrunk down to an inch.

Message: The logo sends the message that the company is simplistic yet professionally effective. The color blue with white sends a strong upbeat feel. The elements of clouds and blue are organic, but the typeface and design help it feel modernized.

Audience: Between ages 18-35.

Top Thing Learned: How to create my own images using shapes and designs.

Color Scheme and Color Names: Monochromatic, blue and white.
